A Season to Wait?

A Season to Dance is edited. Now what? Now I get to write the acknowledgements, author note, reading guide, and all kinds of fun things that go before and after the story. Next I will be looking for endorsements from authors and other professionals I like and whose opinion might influence buyers. Ooh! And there's the cover! I should see it in January.

I'm also working on the second book. I'm still editing it and won't be ready to pitch it to editors for many months, but I'm excited. I love the story and hope you'll too.

Here's what's on my desktop right now. Enjoy catching up - lots of stories here! And remember to drop me a note on Facebook or via email at patricia@patriciabeal.com :)

ACFW 2016:

Social Advice from an Autistic Author

I get fired up about our yearly gathering. Lives change. How can we not get excited about it? My first ACFW conference was in St. Louis in 2014, and that’s where I met my agent and my editor. My debut comes out next year. Fast? Yes, and no. Read more.

A Tribute to Writers' Spouses

One of the best ways I gain knowledge, support, and success in the writing life is through writers' conferences. Our spouses should have a conference, too.

How great would it be if we could send them to an annual gathering of people who deal with the same things they deal with in the crazy writing life that's their life, too?

Here are some of the workshops I believe they should have. Read more.

Christian Fiction and Foreign Locations:

Is the Issue Behind Us?

I've heard this a dozen times: "To sell Christian fiction in the United States, the story has to happen in the United States. It's the way the market is." Is it the way the market is, or is it the way the market was? Is it possible that foreign settings are less of a problem now than they used to be? Read more.

The Song of the Desert Willow

He’s the soldier who was left at the altar. She’s the girl who thought she’d sworn off soldiers forever - A contemporary novel with a Southwestern flair. I still have a lot of tweaking to do, but I think I will be ready to offer it to publishers next fall - maybe sooner...

I'm a Peep! :)

Fangirl moment! I've known for a while that I had to get smart about book launch street teams, and what better way to do it than to join one, right? I was waiting for the right opportunity, and I applied, and I made it! This is so exciting. If you've known me for more than five minutes, you know I really like Katherine Reay's books - to the point I have more than one copy of one of her titles beca...use one copy seems to be always out... Now I get to join other fans in launching her fourth book, and the one I'm looking forward to the most. Why? The story travels to Italy. I'm obsessed with all things Italy. You can't go wrong with Italy - ever. I've been following her research for this book and seeing all the pretty pictures for months. Now I get to be in the birthing room and help. This is so cool!
